You do not tell about home business to your homeowner’s insurance Co! I rent my place for summer and work from home – and I would never tell it to my homeowners’ insurance or they will immediately cancel it! They do not cover businesses or renters, you need a different type of policy for a home business. It would only matter if you had a lot of business equipment there which could be destroyed by flood or fire. A homeowners policy does not cover malpractice or any liability damages to your clients anyway. You can try to find a policy which covers both home and home business, but this will cost you a lot, and there is no need for it, as long as you do not have more than a computer or some music equipment and furniture, which is covered by your homeowner’s policy anyway.
