@solstice-elliott, I started by finding podcasts that I enjoyed and whose topics and guests aligned with my subject area of expertise. I went with those who had a large-ish audience but not so large that I was competing with big name guests. Love Covered Life, JeffMara podcast, and Kevin Moore show were the first three that really helped get us some exposure. As time went on, various other (often random) podcasts popped on my radar, and I would reach out if so led.Â
For example, the Journey On podcast started out being all about horses/horse training, etc. I had never heard of it. But one episode had an animal healer on and a friend mentioned that episode to me. So, I wrote Warwick (host) thinking I could talk about our pet channeling book. Turns out, he said yes, and we didn’t even cover the animal info – he wanted to talk about the galactic stuff we’ve channeled! His viewership is over 20,000 (people who actually watch, not just subscribers), and we were literally booked with clients every day for about 5 months after that show.Â
Then, I crafted a letter that looked like this: first parag explained why I resonated with them/their show -what I loved about their show; second parag was a brief intro about Will and I and what we’ve accomplished; third parag was why I think their viewers would be interested in what we’d like to share; last parag was a thank you and closure, along with our contact info and links so they could do more research about us if they wanted.Â
When you approach it from the excitement of wanting to get great info out to a wider audience, to connect with viewers, and/or to have high-level conversations with podcast hosts, it reflects in your letter of introduction. In other words, if you sound like you just want to get on the show to sell a book or boost website traffic, it’s not the same energy. I only reach out to those I really resonate with and am excited about connecting with.Â
I paste the letter in the body of my email to them (or in a contact form on their website), with the subject line of Intro and podcast request, or something along those lines. And then I let the universe work out the details 🙂
