  • Editing a book translated – need tips

    Hi everyone,

Last year I posted about my wish to have my book translated from French to English.
    The book is here
So obviously it wasn’t the right moment since nothing happened until now.
My book is already translated, I used Deepl. But I would need some editing and correcting because I assume the translation is not perfect.
Best would be the cheaper because I have no side money to pay for it. Or it could even be some BQH sessions for free for example.
I’m planning on having it published through amazon so the biggest part would definetly be the editing and finding someone to do it.
Would you have any tips ? Recomandations ?
    Thank you !

If I weren’t already challenged to find the time to work on my own book, I’d enjoy such a project! Hope you can find someone like me (native English speaker with good writing skills, extensive knowledge of French, interest in the subject, and maybe a francophone partner to explain any tricky bits).

But definitely, yes, don’t just publish the DeepL version without a review/revision. It makes me sad when I read books that need another editor, no matter how interesting they are.

    Bonne chance, Virginie !

    Thank you @Heather_Holm !
I’d definetly need someone with those skills although maybe someone “only” native English speaker with spiritual understanding would be nice.

Ho no I won’t publish it with the Deepl translation because even with my level of English I can see some translations are too litteral !

    Hi Virginie,

Maybe a crowdsourcing solution would help you, like from fiverr.com or any of the other sites like them that are out there.  This is a site for professional services of all types. You probably have to dig around a bit to find some good people but the price is generally pretty good, since a large part of the work is prob translated correctly thru deepl, and definitely get a sample of the work before committing to anything imo. Might still require a final professional edit for tone and flow but it could get you a step closer.  Just a thought.

    XO…Tom
