Is there a place to put forum suggestions?
I have a request. I know you have a lot to do, and this will probably be low on the list – but, I would really love some emoticons that are similar to the ones I use on other social media sites. The reason is because there is so much non-verbal information that we give when we communicate in real life. Without that, when we are just writing the information out, I would like to give some idea of the feeling behind my words.
I actually use hearts, different colored hearts a LOT when I am communicating with others in social media.
The basics are really pretty good – hearts, laugh, BIG laugh, smile, sad, that’s all I need. I do like other things like stars and animals, but you know, not all of that is necessary for me.
Is that a possibility, down the line?
Is it true that that emoticons from other social media don’t work great in here, is that correct? Let me test those out. I’ll put a couple here and see if that works.
Okay, that attempt failed, at least on my end. That did not work, lol.
I do know we have some emoticons here, but I don’t see any hearts in there.

Yes, Sarah, for some reason, at the moment, putting a emoticons in a reply makes the reply not go through. I think that is on the list to be fixed, though. And I agree, I would love some other options. I use the heart all the time!

huh. hearts are now taking up the full line and creating a linebreak…so 3/5ths of the way there maybe.
We are working on this.

The default emojis were causing posting errors – an unfortunate bug that’s resisting fixing. We removed the default emojis since they were breaking so many posts and added the addon emoticon option…which has less of the standard options but at least works. I dug through some documentation about that plugin and it looks like there’s a way to add new icon options (like the red heart above) but having the heart create a linebreak is not ideal and I’m not entirely sure why – images set to display block vs inline?
I gotta get that linebreak problem fixed before we can start adding new emojis for this workaround (while we still tackle the original emoji issue). I moved that up the to-do list hopefully it’s a quick fix and we can deploy at least a few more emojis quickly.
But seriously though, email me…it was a fluke I saw this post since I’m mostly working in the backend : D
