Have you done any psychic fairs or New Age conventions?

I am guided to do some local gatherings of spiritual people – to get local clients and network with fellow Lightworkers… I have no experience doing it. Can you give me advice? How to start, what are the pitfalls, are organizers nice or greedy, etc?

@Sarah_Webb
I just heard Del Bigtree has 90 minutes to speak at the Conscious Life Expo!
Daryl Anka has had some fascinating info but sort of morphed a bit over the last few years- still I’d go see him too given a chance.
Would you let us know how it goes? I am more than curious how your husband responds seeing/hearing Bashar in person.

There are small “psychic fairs” or “wellness expos” held once or twice a year in the larger towns in this part of the world. I’ve attended, but I haven’t exhibited yet. I probably would have done so by now if they hadn’t been discontinued during covid. I’ve attended them occasionally. They’re typically held in a hotel ballroom. There are tables with various alternative practitioners; sellers of drums, crystals, spiritual or mystical art; displays of water purifying or magnetizing systems; lots of surprises. Psychics and card readers take bookings for mini-readings which they do behind a curtain; some people give talks in a public space near the booths; perhaps there’s a quiet room where someone might offer a guided meditation or sound bath, etc.
I used to do craft shows, so it’s easy for me to imagine renting a table and setting up a display. So as a thought experiment, here’s what I think I’d do:
- Have a computer screen set up with an auto-running slideshow or powerpoint or video, which might include snippets of video from sessions, bullet point explanations so people could get information without talking to me directly, while I stand by to answer questions and talk with those who want to talk.
- Have business cards and brochures to hand out.
- Get a freestanding banner made with my graphics, photo of me, maybe a QR code that would take people to my website.
- Have a singing bowl or two on the table, my selenite lamp and some crystals to draw people to the display.
- Get scheduled to do a free group regression or two on location over the weekend. That would probably be a short session, depending on the opportunities being given by the organizers.
- Have a date and venue for a full-length (2 to 3 hour) group regression all set up for a week or two later, with a paper handout to advertise it. People go through these fairs and pick up cards and brochures from booths that interest them, then look at them later.
- Be ready for an influx of in-person bookings.
Now that I’ve thought it out, I think it’s a great plan. I should do it!

A good place to start could be to survey the landscape and see what other related events are out there — is there anything already like that happening in NOLA or surrounding region? If so, then you could potentially hook up with them. If not, then you have more freedom to design/organize/create event(s) that you are most interested in.QUESTIONS TO CONSIDER:1) What is the Primary purpose of the gatherings?2) What is the secondary purpose of the gatherings?3) Who is the target audience you would like to attract?4) What kind of programming are you envisioning or would you like to see?PROGRAMMING EXAMPLES: workshops, talks, guided group meditations, guided group regressions, 1:1 healing sessions, 1:1 healing taster (mini/short) sessions, ecstatic dance, music, sound healing, yogaVENDORS selling things such as: crafts, jewelry, crystals, new age books, healing paraphernalia, clothing, emf protection, natural products, health foods, chocolate, ETC5) How large or small of a gathering are you thinking of? Or what range? What is the minimum and/or maximum number you’d like to see?6) What kind of space would you like this to happen in? Is there any space you already have in mind? What is the capacity of the space?7) What role would you like to play in the organization of this event? What would you need help with?8) Are there any existing networks (local or statewide or healer specific like this forum) you could tap into to find people to attend or help organize your gatherings?9) Are there any other related events happening in the area that you could use instead of organizing your own event? — where you could have a workshop or table/booth at an existing event? Or you could use an event to network and publicize your event.10) Is there a target date that you’d like to hold the first event by? Or a specific date that you’d like to organize an event around? (eg. solstice / equinox / full moon / new moon / anniversary of ~~ / within 2/3/4/6 months / etc )11) How often are you thinking of having these events? If what you’re thinking of doing is on the smaller side, at least to start — perhaps choosing a place that could be the regular meeting place (monthly/quarterly) could be a good way to approach it, so people will expect the event/meetup to consistently happen at that same place at whatever frequency you decide — like the 1st Friday idea. This could be a cafe, restaurant, hotel, yoga studio, esoteric shop, healing center, cultural center, library — whatever seems like the best fit for what you’re going for. Many of these examples would be free to use, but not all of them.+REFERENCES / RELATED EVENTS:Some related events that could be helpful as a reference. The first is a smaller scale ongoing event, while 2-6 are much larger scale events, 7-8 are online event platforms you could use to help find people for an event.1) Community Healing Circle (Chicago)
This is a monthly holistic healing event that a yoga studio hosts that gives people a chance to try out various holistic healing modalities with a short 20 minute “taster” format.
This event happens at a yoga studio that hosts a variety of events, beyond yoga classes (sound healing, etc). They announce the “1st Friday Healing Circle” in their email newsletter and on their website events page.2) Conscious Life Expo – LA (Feb 10-13)This looks huge — so many workshops with over 200 speakers! No idea how many people are travelling to get to this vs from LA/Calif area, but it’s happening at the LAX Hilton, so it’s well situated for those who are travelling. Could be a great place to network and let synchronicity help you find people from your area.3) Mind Body Spirit – LondonThis is a big annual 3 day event with loads of speakers and workshops. It costs to enter the event. There’s a mix of free and ticketed workshops. They get a lot of big names in the new age world — Teal Swan, Diana Cooper, Kyle Gray, Jerry Sargeant, and many more. They also have a LOT of vendors. It’s fun to just go and walk around and check out what’s there.4) Mind Body Soul – LondonAnother similar 3 day event in London.5) Mind Body Spirit – USI had no idea there were so many of these! These are the dates and locations for 2023:Austin, TX – February 4-5Raleigh, NC – February 25-26Chicago, IL – March 4-5Denver, CO – March 17-19Milwaukee, WI – March 25-26Sacramento, CA – April 1-2Loveland, CO – April 1-2Honolulu, HI – April 15-16Cincinnati, OH – April 15-16Colorado Springs, CO – April 21-23Portland (Hillsboro), OR – April 29-30Tinley Park (Chicago), IL – June 3-4Tampa, FL – June 10-11Austin, TX – July 29-30Raleigh, NC – August 19-20Columbus, OH – September 9-10Sacramento, CA – September 16-17Denver, CO – September 22-24Colorado Springs, CO – October 6-8Chicago (Northlake) – October 21-22Loveland, CO – November 4-5
Tampa, FL – November 11-12Cincinnati, OH – November 18-196) Hay House – I Can Do It! Event (Tampa, FL – May 19-21)Hay House has these events usually a few times a year (this is the only one listed for this year so far) in various locations with a lot of speakers they publish. Brian Weiss, Gabrielle Bernstein, Colette Baron-Reid, Kyle Gray, Rebecca Campbell, Gregg Braden are a few of the Tampa line-up.7) EventbriteYou can easily set up an announcement for any event, large or small, on eventbrite and this can help publicize it and act as a online registration platform for your event.8) MeetupLike eventbrite, meetup provides an online platform to publicize your event and let people interested register (both free or paid events). Meetup is a popular site for clubs (book clubs and any other kind of club you can think of) to announce their ongoing regular activities. -
I’m going to the Conscious Life Expo in February with my husband. We just booked our tickets yesterday.
I had really been wanting to meet Darryl Anka, who channels Bashar. My husband is also a trance channel, and he acts a bit similar to Darryl when he goes into his channeling state, so we find Darryl/Bashar pretty fascinating. My husband channels the Archangels, and also channels Pets. Also, he has been known to assist a client or two who has had trouble reaching their Higher Self or bypassing their ego. I’m pretty sure he could channel anyone, but he is still getting used to his gift.
Anyway, we are excited to see Darryl/Bashar. My husband has a guilty pleasure that kind of cracks me up – he also wants to see George Noory, so we bought passes to see him also
. I was just saying on Wednesday, “Wouldn’t it be awesome if Darryl Anka came and channeled somewhere nearby, and we could see him in person?”
So – go manifesting!

. I do think it will be fun. We are super excited! I’ve not been to a “Lightworker” type of conference, but I have been to photography conferences and I’m sure it will be similar, just some very different topics.
xoxo!

Hi @Candace_CrawGoldman,
Oh wow, more people to see! I know about Del Bigtree, he would be interesting to see also!
I am also curious about Bashar – I’ve tried asking the angels about him. They say that he is “alive” (lol) meaning, an incarnated being, not in the light…I’ve asked about his explanation of how to manifest and they say that is on point, so they do tell me a little bit. They seem to imply that he gives good information…but I really only discovered him recently so I don’t know what he said years ago. The angels won’t interfere too much with our free will so they won’t tell me everything.I did ask them once, “Why doesn’t Bashar ever talk about the Flash?” and they said, “Have you ever heard anyone ask him about the Flash?” I said no, because I haven’t…so now I am curious to ask him that question somehow! (through his website or at the conference). I am curious about Travis seeing him as well. I think it will be interesting. I will definitely let you know how it goes! -
Hello Sarah,
How was the meeting or how was it to see Darryl/Bashar? I wanted to know more about this channeler for some time now, was it a great experience for you and your husband?

Thank you so much for sharing. I giggled at the Disneyland analogy. Spiritual and wellness Disneylands. I am so glad for you to have had such a wonderful experience!

Hi @Ioana_Vasile,
The trip was so much fun! We met a friend of mine there (my best friend from childhood) and another long time friend from Facebook who I hadn’t met yet in real life, so it was great to have dinner with friends and to all spend time together.
We didn’t arrive until late Friday, but we still got to go to quite a few of the workshops and to see the Keynote speakers. Bashar was good, Elizabeth April was good, George Noory was pretty good, he had a panel of people in his workshop so there were lots of different opinions and views and it was kind of hard to keep up. We saw someone named Riz Mirza who is a trance channel, someone I had never heard of before the Expo, but he was really fascinating. His class was a free class so it was a nice surprise, he was an amazing trance channel. Some of the other classes were good, we just tried to fill up our schedules without getting too tired.
The best thing about being there was the positive energy. My friend and my husband and I kept saying it felt like Disneyland because it was just so happy. It was nice to be around so many like-minded people and so much positive energy.
