  • Have you put Proper YouTube Thumbnails?

    Hello Everyone!

    When I say ‘proper’…

While preparing for my second video series, I thought I I better put on Proper thumbnails for my first series. The first series is titled ‘What is Love?’ which was started as a game to practise speaking. In the end, I created 30 videos for this series, each video feature either a guided journey or simple exercise that everyone can do for themselves. Very few views and only 4 years later, I realized the titles do not reflect what the videos are about and so I thought to put on thumbnails.

I thought it would be hard but it turned out to be so easy! I’m writing about it here, in case you also haven’t put on proper thumbnails and you would like to.

I searched for free apps to create thumbnails and there were many. I chose Adobe because it’s definitely not a fake spam platform. There are paid features and free features. I managed to create thumbnails that I’m very happy with with just the free features. One of the features I used a lot was to remove background from screenshot of me from videos. The page said this feature was free for a limited time only. I don’t know how long this limited time was so I finished making thumbnails for all 30 videos in two days. My eyes!!!

There is also a 30 days free trial too.

You can see in the screenshot how the thumbnails used to be on the right. The big one on the left is the Proper Thumbnail.

Here’s the link to the playlist in case you want to have a look. I’m mighty proud of them! https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLZxwRgLD7o1iR8QGO_poykfB9qIMb74Nx

If you have any suggestions or something you want to share about thumbnails, please let me know!

    Love,
    Stephanie

I use Canva to create thumbnails for YouTube. So easy!

If you don’t want to create your own or if you want some pre-made templates, Etsy has quite a few. Most are editable. They can be nice too and most are made to be edited in Canva.

Thafs all I’ve got, really! The nice thing about YT thumbnails is that you can always go back and re-do them if you wish.

    xoxo!

@sarah-webb Thanks Sarah! I will check it out. Can you do much with free templates with Canva? Or do you use a paid version?

yes it’s nice to be able to act thumbnail afterwards. But I’m thinking would it look better for the video to have the thumbnail as the beginning of the video so people don’t feel like they clicked the wrong thing. I recently had this feeling that I clicked the wrong video because the thumbnail and the actual video were so off!
