Is anyone using aHP Chromebook laptop with 4 GB and 64GB memory and a Chrome OS Intel Processor for their sessions.I am needing to buy a laptop (mine passed away sometime between 10 pm and 9 am the night before my second attempt at a scheduled swap. The other participant was very understanding.I don’t want to spend a bunch, but like any tool I what one that will work and will try to purchase accordingly. This Chromebook is a low starting point. It would handle all my writing needs, but it also needs to keep up with Zoom. Good day Kevin, sorry to hear about your laptop. I highly recommend getting an Apple M2 MacBook Air (https://www.apple.com/macbook-air/), it is lightweight, very powerful and will last many years. I recognize the price may be a little steep, but Apple partners with Affirm (https://www.affirm.com/) which allows one to pay over time for the purchase of a laptop. I have used the service, it’s easy to use and efficient. It gave me the ability to upgrade to a much faster MAC for video and photo editing.
Hope this helps, Bill

Hello Kevin,
You need more than the minimal zoom needs :Processor Single-core 1Ghz or higher Dual-core 2Ghz or higher (Intel i3/i5/i7 or AMD equivalent) RAM N/A 4 Gb Well you could get a second-hand PC and install Linux on it, it needs less resources than Windows. Please feel free to ask me if you need specific advice on this matter.Jean -
Thank you, that opens up a lot of options. I would rather add some to instead of wasting a portion of the cost on not enough.I had been doing some looking, but realized it would make sense to ask the people who are experienced. Great support group.

If you buy a Chromebook – you will have to buy an additional external memory to store your session recordings, because session files are pretty large files, and storing all of them on the cloud will get you paying a lot of money for the cloud storage. Zoom only stores 3-4 sessions if you record on the Zoom cloud, so you have to save them somewhere, and if you record on your computer and send them to the client – your Google Drive will fill up pretty fast by sending all these files via Google Drive.
I do 90% of my work online and have 2 computers – one HP ‘ALL in One”, large screen with a lot of memory – both RAM and hard memory, and I use it for sessions only, because it is Windows and can potentially get bugged. (I paid about 600$ for it on Cyber Week, and so far it worked for 3 years without breaking) For all my own internet surfing, watching Netflix, online shopping, etc – I have ASUS Chromebook, since Chromebooks can not get any viruses, it is an Android system. I like the rugged ones because I also travel with them. If you do not need to travel and do not care about extra padding – you can get them for 120-150$, maybe even cheaper on Cyber Week. Rugged ones are 11′ only, but you can get them 14’ or 17″ non-padded.
But if you are serious about online work and this is how you plan to make a living – you need to have a totally separate computer for work, plus you also might need an extra one as a backup in case there is any issue with the main one – and you have a whole bunch of clients waiting who already paid and scheduled the sessions, and computer repairs can take a while…

Thank you. I bought one that had a fast enough processor, but it was not a Chrome book. I called about a different one that looked like it would met the bill and he asked, “You mean the one that is on sale for half price? I said. “I hope so.”
I have it up and running. I didn’t think about the storage. I am retired, my goal has always been to learn how to do this because it completely altered my llife. If I can help introduce others to their pastlives that would be priceless, although I hope it can supplement my income a bit. I also do ceramics, I make sinks with matching backslash. The Universe always conspires to help me. If I’m blessed enough to have a problem with storage, the Universe
will provide. Thank you for your kindness. -
Hello again Kevin, when you are ready, your storage issue can easily be solved by adding an “external hard drive” typically USB which can be attached to a port on your computer. FYI a 1TB Seagate drive costs about $50 on Amazon. This can be a good solution because you can add more drives as you need more space.
Hope this helps.

Yes that is helpful, thank you. I was thinking I could start a zip drive library and store information on them. I am still at the starting line, but it is good to know what to do in the future.
