how to approach the "Free will donation" thing…

Hello everyone!First I want to express my gratitude for such a vital and rich experience with this group forum! I’ve learned SO MUCH from you all!My question – as I move into the “free will donation” part of my QHHT service, I’m curious how others have approached explaining and asking for this with clients?Although I understand the reason the training is set up the way it is, I’m feeling a little awkward being in between the freebies and the place(where $ is a non-issue) and where I can set and advertise a price before a client even corresponds with me. Especially now since the people who are contacting me are often friends of friends, so they know I was offering free sessions previously.Thank you,DeAnnaIrina Nola replied 7 years, 9 months ago 8 Members · 10 Replies -

Hi DeAnn. Welcome to our Forum. It is difficult and we are all different. Some prefer doing donation sessions over charging a client a set amount. If you have a website, I would recommend adding on your services page, “from (add date) I will be charging ($)”
When you confirm appointments with clients, in the written email state exactly how much you would like to charge and how they can pay you, or explain what the session entails and then add what the price range of a session are and that you will accept a donation. list how they can do that.
It is amazing that you are being recommended.
When things go Free, I have found that people just don’t appreciate it. I feel that Quantum Healing sessions are powerful and shoulnt be taken for granted. Good Luck

I totally agree with Chrysilla’s last remark- We westerners are so caught up in the monetary thinking that anything FREE of charge is taken for granted and is sometimes believed to be of a low quality. So to charge money is to raise you market value in your own eyes but certainly in the clients mind. The amount of money is another matter. And your former freebie friends ought to know that you are striving to make at least some money for the rent and course fee and so on which would make them aware that you have to charge something…

I agree with everything Chrysilla and Stig have said – I’m willing to do donation-based sessions still but very much not free. I believe money is a powerful teacher for us all!
That said, what i have observed when it comes to asking for my full rate is that I’m actually pre-judging the client when I balk or shy away from asking for what I’m worth. I know this isn’t precisely what you’re speaking to, but I do think it’s worth mentioning – what I’m getting at here is that by my unwillingness to just state my fee and let the client make their decision (and the unwillingness shows up by me balking at the last minute, or asking almost apologetically or making excuses, or even bringing it down immensely, that kind of behaviour) is actually not helping the client – it automatically puts them in a place of “poor” or “scarcity conscious” just by my own judgement! It’s like a dynamic I was unconsciously setting up – and fully related to how i felt about myself, which I then projected onto the client.I have also come to realize that the money they are spending is truly an investment in themselves and ultimately has nothing to do with me and everything to do with what they believe they are worth, their healing is worth, their peace of mind is worth.
Anyway, sorry if I veered out of scope. I’ve been on such a journey with money in my life I’m always up for talking about value and money consciousness. 🙂

As an independent contractor for 40 years, I have spent long hours considering this topic. Price changes are difficult for service providers, but must be done.
Here’s what I know: any hesitation to ask what you are worth is always based upon guilt. Check yourself for still intact poverty vows and break these vows.
Count your cash payments right in front of them. I always indicate cash is my favorite way of being paid. Not the only way, just my favorite.
They may tip you so you want to express gratitude to their face, or they may have made a mistake and given you too little. It’s easy to fix it there – harder to call later and ask for the correction.
Men are better at this simple task of exchange – we women can take their example. It’s an energy exchange, remember?
I often remind myself that I want clients who love supporting me in my work, and who want me to thrive and help others as well. When I keep this in mind, I feel I am only helping them help me and it is a win/win.
One of my best received price raises was done like this: I posted a sign in my mirror of my hair cutting station that stated : “For my 35th birthday, I am giving myself a raise. Thank you for your support.”
Everyone laughed and was in on my celebration.
Another way to phrase it is “Minimum Donation”
The attitude of joyful exchange can be cultivated.
My friend told me she learned in MaryKay Cosmetics to Never, Ever make assumptions about a woman’s ability to pay. People find the money for what they believe will make them feel good. It’s good advice. -

A big thank you for the your reply.

I also do not count it. I will keep your advice in mind.
Thank you. <3 -
The tone of these posts puzzles me some. We have some awesome ways of healing and from my experience, money / survival blocks are among the biggest ones. Yet, that does not at all mean that they can’t be powerfully healed.
I’ve used my CTT tools to make financial comfort for myself. This is not excessive, just comfort. My long term aim is to help create paradise here on earth, so I look for those that want similar things and empower them as best as I can no charge. Many times people will ask “How can I give back to you?”
What I often do is say you can send me something if you want or you can tap for me to express your appreciation, the tapping will take about two minutes, but do not feel that you have to. It’s much more powerful when it’s genuine appreciation.
When I help someone that is wanting a better world, I’m getting what I want!! Any of you really want a better world? I’ll coach and assist you. -
Thanks for your input everyone! You all had many excellent points which I’ll take with me as I move forward!I do want to clarify because I think I didn’t make my question clear enough. I actually don’t have a problem with asking to be paid for my work once I’ve completed my intern hours.( I’ve had a successful business for 13 years and am comfortable setting a fee for my services.)But currently, I’m in the “free will donation” part of my QHHT internship/training where I’m not allowed to set a fee until I complete the 25 sessions, but am instead supposed to put out there it’s a “free will donation”.So I was wondering how you brought this up with people? For example, I’m getting referrals from friends who I did a free session with, but now the “free sessions” part of my training is over and I’m feeling sort of award bringing this up.I’m also curious what clients usually give in a “free will donation” type of set up.

You could say, “ During my initial phase I’m not charging a set fee. I’m asking for a ‘free will donation’ if you are so inclined. Soon, however, my fee will go to $350.”
That gives them a sense of the territory, which I’ve found, they always want to know.
Tonight I had a two hour, deep tissue massage. The therapist had an amazing session with me two days ago – I’ll write a post about it. She was my fourth client. She gave me the massage in gratitude ($200) and I tipped her $100!
She said her session was life changing. She has a transgender son; one of her past lives found her in Victorian England as a transgender man who spent the second half of life in the woods in hermitage.
Her HS had information I want to share with you all.
I hope this helps, DeAnna. -
@Terrell_Just That’s perfect! And thanks for sharing the story as well, as it really helps me see how energy trades can work!

Working as a face-painter at festivals and parties for 30 years, I learned the difference between ‘working for tips”, working for a “suggested donation” and charging a set fee. Tips mean – pay whatever you want or nothing. When you just tell people ‘it is a donation” or ‘pay whatever you want” – somebody might pay you quite generously, or somebody will put spare change in your tip box or give you 20$ for 5-hour session.. .As a face-painter – I agree to work for tips only if I am paid a base salary, or working at charity events. As a QHHT practitioner – I only offer this to people whom I am guided to help, who are financially in dire straights and I never advertise this on any of my sites. “Suggested donation” is the whole different story. You offer a range – “from X to Y” with a clear minimum. Well, as this is a donation – a client can walk away without paying, but they normally do not do that, and you will most likely get your minimum plus a bit extra if they liked the session. I did QHHT on suggested donation for many years, it felt more spiritual to me, but I finally just set a fee and I get it without any problems. I also offer student discounts for full-time students coming for professional/academic orientation and life purpose – these are shorter sessions, no need for any healing or traumatic past lives, I do not feel drained working with young folks, so I do not mind giving them a break.
