  • How to bypass using the word “hypnosis” when living in a regulated state

Hey all! I’m a recently certified BQH practitioner. I’m wanting to add some weight loss/smoking cessation hypnosis sessions to my list of services, but due to living in Missouri, hypnosis is regulated and, as I understood it, only psychologists/certified hypnotherapists are allowed to use the word hypnosis. Does anyone have any suggestions on how I could word this without getting having any legal issues? Also, would the fact that I am certified in BQH allow me to use the word hypnosis? Thanks in advance for guidance and input in this.

    Hi Christina,

I can speak to the last question, BQH does not grant any legal rights…those rights are all determined by the states/provinces/countries.  Here’s a link that suggests each state’s (US) treatment and you’ll note that Missouri does not regulate hypnosis according to this site.  What might be regulated is the word hypnotherapy and just hypnosis…you’d need to check.  https://cascadehypnosistraining.com/hypnosis-requirements-by-state

While it may not work for what you suggest, Candace shies away from the term in general because of the public’s perception of the word mainly. She generally describes BQH as Consciousness Exploration.

@tomquantumhealers-com thank you so much for your response! I’ve been brainstorming and am considering calling the weight loss/smoking cessation sessions Deep Trance Healing sessions. But I’m also open to suggestions.

I used on my website always the term “Deep Relaxation” (DR) or even “Guided / Deep Meditation” (GM/DM) techniques/sessions. I also think this is not ‘wrong’ at all because it is what we ‘kind of’ do.
