Brian Weiss said during his professional workshop that he used to list his students, but his attorney advised him to stop doing this as it can be considered a “referral”, and you can be liable if you referred a client to somebody, even your own student, and something went wrong during their session. But he said he does not carry any insurance neither for his private practice nor for teaching, and he does group regressions with hundreds of people during his workshops. Maybe he is insured by the venue, I do not know. But you might need to talk to an attorney in Spain, as laws are very different in each country.

Do you have a liability insurrance for your practice? I think these organisations have information on liability for instructors or schools.
I have no experience to answer your question.,but like to follow what others may say.

@Patricia_Grootjans , thanx dear;) i dont have insurance for my practice as i travel a lot and basically reside in 3 places these days ( Dubai, Muscat, Barcelona) which makes it quite complex and costly. I resolved that by having clients signing a basic non liability form. Im more concerned for the ‘protection’ and liabilty of my own modality now. Im very curious to hear what others have to say on this, like Candace and Aurora for example.

Congratulations on developing your own modality. I am sure your many years of experience and heart felt connections to clients will bode well in your success.

So the first thing I have to state is that we here on this Forum can not provide legal advice to anyone at all for any reason. Your best bet is to retain an attorney from your country of residence.

That being said, I can absolutely tell you what I did and Thia beat me to the link she provided above. The Energy Medicine Professional Liability Insurance program is yes, for United States citizens only at this time. I simply went through their process of providing information and required documentation to be considered insurable and we happily were accepted fairly quickly~ What seems to be taking a while is the actual LISTING of BQH on their website, but in time I am sure that will happen.

Best of luck to you and should you find an insurance provider in your area of the world, please do let us know as there are a number of our members offering and teaching their own modalities who would be grateful to learn of other options.

I would think that stating your modality on paper and explaining you cannot be held liable for using it and having the signature of the client, would hold up better than anything else. That way, you don’t even have to have insurance.

Hi, suggestion is to hire an attorney knowledgeable in the laws pertaining to alternative medicine in the countries where you practice. If licencing is necessary or not. Then liability issues if any. Then cover yourself any and every way you can. I have malpractice insurance, certified hypnotherapist and belong to a union who provides legal representation if necessary. I also have a contract of non-liability and another one that my clients sign that they have read and understand the non-liability.

I found this organization as the aromatherapy class I am taking is accredited with them, they are in UK, but I think they can accredit anybody, plus they provide insurance – but I am not sure if it is for Europe only or will include Dubai. http://iaoth.com/

HI Alexandra – congratulations on developing your own modality. I asked a lawyer friend of mine years ago when I started QHHT if I needed insurance. She said that as long as the clients signed a liability form and that on my website and emails I had a well-written disclaimer saying the following ” “De acuerdo a la legislación vigente, el contenido de las sesiones QHHT no sustituirá la apropiada asistencia médica, legal, financiera o psicológica. Así pues aceptas que el contenido del mismo estará sujeto a tu propia interpretación y uso.”. ( IN English would translate as”

“According to current legislation, the content of the QHHT sessions will not substitute the appropriate medical, legal, financial or psychological assistance, so you accept that the content of the sessions will be subject to your own interpretation and use.” – you can change the wording to whatever your modality is called.
Then again I am covered as a registered naturopath and Chinese medicine therapist from before I did QHHT with the Spanish federation of naturopaths and the Federation of alternative medicine.
Before doing a session or group sessions I always make sure people know that it is not meant to replace medical help and if I feel they need medical help I will advise them to go to a doctor. I have doctors who send people to me also, so I wouldn’t worry too much about it. Here in Spain they are trying to get rid of us naturopaths and chinese medicine therapists. They want to get rid of homeopathy and everything that is not chemical medicine, so we are all having a tough time here at the moment. They call it all ‘pseudotherapy ‘ even though what we do has been used for thousands of years…I am thinking of leaving Spain one day. Maybe you would be better living in Dubai 😉

Im aware of all you said and in fact do a similar thing. I have clients sign a non-liability form aswell as giving permission to use the session recordings for my own personal use and/or videos for public posting.

Anyway, what i was asking for here is particularly aimed at my own TQH modality course.

As i reside between different places this proved quite complicated but ill now just keep doing that same thing for now untill i have more intel.

Funny u mention about Dubai, in fact i do live in the Gulf region most of the time now;)

i shuttle between Dubai and Muscat and only spend minimal amount of time in Barca these days. Its a big change that was not without challenge but professionally Dubai has treated me so well.

Muscat came about through my connection and association with the spiritual foundation DIRA which was created 2 years ago by a local Omani friend of mine. In fact all of Dira and our friendship came through a session (!) in Dubai. All of this was foretold and im living that prophesy right now;)

You could say Dubai is for business and Dira/Muscat is for my own spiritual expansion.

Im incredibly grateful for all this region has gifted me and it is amazing watching the global awakening unfold here aswell in all its shades, colors and intensity through the local cultural flavors!
