Hi! I’m new here and still in lessons for BQH. I have a question about SEO and marketing as far as hypnotherapy goes.

    * Do people search for hypnotherapists??

Or are people coming to you because they’re searching for other things and then they are learning what you do and being exposed to hypnotherapy that way??

I’m trying to think ahead a bit about a business name and also how much people are actually looking for hypnotherapists and getting hypnotherapy.

Again…totally new to EVERYTHING hypnotherapy, so I’m sorry if the answer seems obvious.

    Thanks!

Hi Wendi, there are a couple of free tools (and some paid ones) out there that allow you to see the average search volume for certain keywords. Google ads has one in their platform that you can sign up to use just with your gmail without having to set up a campaign, and ubersuggest allows for some free exploration. Google trends is another tool you can check out.  Here’s something to play with a bit: https://trends.google.com/trends/explore?geo=US&q=qhht,hypnotherapy,quantum%20hypnosis&hl=en

My website is very very new – just putting myself out there in the past few weeks, and I am already receiving search traffic (I do work very actively on my SEO).

    best of luck!

    Julia

Wix has a whole section on  SEO within Marketing in the dashboard that is very complete. If you work your way through their checklist, you’ll have your base down!

write your headlines as if you were answering to people’s searches 🙂

    Hi Wendi,

I am actually an SEO expert and have my own marketing company.  I just completed my BQH certification last week and just had one of my employees complete an in depth keyword research for my own site, that I will begin building my own hypnosis site this week.  I am more than willing to provide any tips for those interested or professionally provide any SEO services.

When doing keyword research it is best to concentrate the search within your specific city or surrounding areas.  It is much easier to rank your website for a specific city and for specific keywords then it would be nationally.  For instance, http://www.Brooklyntherapuetichypnosis.com (just made this up) will rank in the top of Google Search much more quickly and easily in Brooklyn, NY and surrounding areas then http://www.marlenediazhypnosis.com, local or nationally.

Reason – No one will be searching in Google for Marlene Diaz as a Hypnotherapist but people that reside in Brooklyn will do a general search for hypnosis.

I hope this helps.  Please feel free to reach out with any specific questions.

    best,

    Marlene

In my experience, local people, i.e. those who come for in-person sessions (which is a different SEO focus than getting online clients) are often finding my website directly from a google search, not through a directory.

What are they searching for? My site is showing at the top for “qhht nova scotia” and “bqh nova scotia” and also for the names of local towns, but not for the city that’s an hour away but still in my “catchment area”.

So the people I’m getting have heard of QHHT or BQH and are searching for it. And indeed, when they show up, they do know what it is, they’re people who are taking responsibility for their own spiritual growth, and I don’t have to explain the fundamentals of all that to them. They’ve also visited my website and seen my videos. They’re glad to have found someone who does it locally. So that’s great.

But I could be broadening my client base, perhaps. Maybe people more curious about Dolores Cannon or past-lives. I should probably pay more attention to terms such as “hypnosis” and “past life regression” along with other local place names.

Unless you’re a board-certified “therapist” or “hypnotherapist”, you cannot legally use those words to describe yourself in most jurisdictions. I’m not sure how to get around that. On the other hand, I don’t want clients who are just looking for help to quit smoking. But BQH is therapy, even if we have to be careful with our terms.

Then there’s the term “QHHT” which is still better known than BQH. If you don’t have the QHHT training, you can still mention it as part of the history of BQH, which would help in searches.

It’s important to use search terms in a natural way, and not overload them on your pages. I’ve followed SEO over my 25+ years of web designing, and search engines are more and more wise to attempts to trick them. Knowing what terms people actually use to search for what you do is the key, as Marlene points out.

@heather-holm That’s super helpful! I think I’ll need to consider if I’m interested in more local people or a broader audience! Thanks so much and it’s so great to hear people are actually searching out the terms and have knowledge and interest ahead of time! <3

@wendideepurejeevan-com, you can have both. I have a mix of local and online clients. But online clients will find you online, in the quantum healers directory or through social media, not through a location-based search. But you have more competition for those online clients, so social media is important. (Note to self: post more!)

I’ve been amazed when I get an online client from somewhere far away and it becomes obvious during the session why they were guided to me out of all the possibilities – how my personal experience or understanding is just what they needed. Ask your guides to send you the right clients for you! And get stuff online – videos, website, memes etc.
