Show pricing upfront, or consult call only?

So I have all the sessions I offer on my website that can just be booked, but I am also offering a free 15 minute consult call. For those of you who have been in business a while, what do you find works better….
Allowing potential clients to see all of your session lengths and pricing, or only showing them the free consult booking option?
I feel like if I show all my available sessions they can clearly see my pricing up front which I feel would probably weed out the people who simply can’t afford it (even though I do have a free session option I offer for low income clients), on the other hand, all of the marketing people say only to offer a consult call first and then sell them in the call.
So what’s everyone’s take on this? I currently offer 6 different booking options for 2 different types of sessions. So each type has 3 different length sessions, 2-2.5, 3-3.5 and 4-4.5 hours. Do you think that’s good? Bad? I decided to do it that way because when I started doing the practice sessions, there were a few people who just didn’t have 3-4 hours to set aside so I decided to offer a shorter session.
What’s your thoughts?
Thank you!!!

Hi Monica,
My business perspective is purely from managing the admin side of the Directory and seeing all the statistics for 16 years…those practitioners who have full disclosure, including pricing, get the most interest and the most engagement. Those practitioners also have high quality, pictures of themselves dressed nicely where the clients can see their eyes. They also have pictures in their gallery, articles posted, plenty of good reviews and a few short videos.
My personal perspective as a consumer, anyone who doesn’t post a price I pass on by. I don’t have the time or desire to go digging.
Just my two cents. 🙂

@tomquantumhealers-com Thank you so much for your insight! I’m extremely grateful! That is exactly what I was doing but then I was watching this spiritual business marketing channel and they were talking about how to only offer a call and that just sounded backwards to me. I prefer upfront pricing as well.
My website is finished and open. I am in the process of getting a professional headshot done. My son is a professional photographer I always take care of his dog when he goes on shoots, so he owes me! But getting him pinned down to a specific day is the issue at the moment. LOL! I am working on it though. I’ve also been adding some good blog posts to my site and I just started running a Meta ad that I hope leads to at least one booking. I guess we’ll see. I’ve thought about approaching some podcasts, but I feel that I should probably be a little more experienced before I go on one of those, LOL!
I did have an idea the other day about maybe sending a letter out to the therapists and counselors in my small town to introduce myself, tell them what I am offering and let them know I am available if they have any clients they feel could benefit from my services. Of course I wouldn’t send it to anyone who does past life progression. I’ll do my research first. I’d love to know peoples thoughts on that idea!
Thank you so much again for your insights! Have a high-vibrational day!

This is really one of those topics that gets under my skin – the so-called “professional marketing“ techniques. They are very formulaic and you can spot them a mile away. And, they completely turn me off. Basically, it’s manipulation. Trying to get a “sale.” Perhaps that works in other areas, but in the spiritual and metaphysical realm, I think it’s absolutely the wrong energy.
And frankly, from what I’ve seen, the only people getting rich by using these marketing techniques are the people who are selling them. I have a good friend, who is a medium and life coach. She spent a year, using every waking moment to implement all of these techniques. She literally worked herself to the bone trying to do it right, and realized, at the end of the year, she had absolutely nothing to show for it. And she truly could not understand why.
Be upfront, transparent, and authentic, and work from a place of integrity and heart centeredness and you will attract the clients who are meant to find you.

@allison-brown Thank you! Yeah, it didn’t really feel right to me either but I felt it was worth asking.

All of my session options and recommended fees are on the website, but the free consultation is in the header. Most will look through the website and then schedule a free consultation. The consultation time is set for 30 minutes and i also leave 30 minutes padding afterwards, for potential clients who are chatty or want to go in depth about the different options. Because the options are so different, the free consult regularly goes more than 30 minutes.
Blessings

@malka-ahern Thank you. I have 2 free consults booked for Monday so I’m going to see how it goes time wise. I have it set at 15 minutes right now. I’ll probably end up having to change it, LOL!

I totally agree about not using the hard sell for quantum healing sessions. I only want clients who (a) are taking responsibility for their own emotional healing and spiritual growth, (b) are sincere in wanting to take a deep dive into their subconscious for answers and healing, (c) feel resonance with me as a person.
There’s one marketing consultant I do like who talks about the “sales” conversation – whether it’s on your website, during your free consultation or casual conversations with people you meet, in your brochures or whatever you do – as an exploration of whether what you offer is a “fit” with the client’s needs. He got disillusioned by the other kind of marketer, after working with some big names.
So finding good words, while being authentically you – that’s the job.
He’s on Facebook as “Marketing for Hippies” – https://www.facebook.com/hippymarketer

Hi Monica. I continue to work on all this stuff myself. I have also taken other modality classes and have mentors who all recommend NOT putting any pricing on a website, etc. But as a customer, I am like Tom. I pass those things up. I don’t even look. It usually seems deceptive in a way. Everything in the world has a price…Just tell me what it is! But who knows what ‘works’ the best.
When I had a physical office and was only doing hypnotherapy and massage therapy (nothing so wild as BQH), I printed, hand stamped, hand signed, hand addressed letters to several dozen local therapists. I introduced myself, offered a chat, and even offered them or one of their staff a free session. I did not get a single response of any kind. I was pretty surprised. I worded my letter well, making sure they understood my work could compliment theirs, not steal their clients. But no response. Maybe you will have different experience.
I also have worked on simplifying my offerings. I have learned a number of modalities and before I listed them all out, etc. But again as a consumer when I see too many options, either methods or prices or whatever, especially from a single provider, it always feels like they may do a lot of things, but do not do any one thing very well. I am still working on this, but basically am putting things under two topics for myself, hypnotherapy and massage therapy (though massage removed as I have no physical location now).
I desire to get things down so I don’t have to keep tweaking my webpage and pricing. But I guess it is a process. I looked around for marketing companies, but my business is too small to afford what I have found offered. I will keep DIY-ing until I get it down right!
Free consultation – I offer but don’t require this. I am rethinking this as well. Sometimes I think I should require it. For me, basically some people are more suited to the hypnotherapy I offer and for others the BQH would be best.

@brian-bodylight-org I ended up deciding to show my prices on the website, just not to send my advertisements to them, but to schedule a free consult. That way I have the best of both worlds really. I’m not going to require a consult, but I strongly recommend one. And what you said about sending the letters out, OMG I had the same idea and I worded mine just like yours, but then I switched gears from BQH to specializing in paranormal cases (alien abduction, ufo sighting, cryptid encounters, etc.) so I decided to hold off on that. I too thought it would be a great resource, but maybe not. Thank you for sharing that!
