  • The issue with LBL listings and a suggestion for a new category

Irina Nola Posted by Irina Nola on 2018-07-19 at 6:18 PM

Recently I was looking through LBL listings in our directory (hoping to find somebody to trade QHHT for LBL on my travels), and I noticed that there are some practitioners who never took TNI class who claim to be TNI certified LBL hypnotherapists. I run some names through TNI directory, and sure enough, they are not listed. For starters, you have to be a certified hypnotherapist to be accepted into this programme. The term “Life between Lives” and abbreviation LBL is trademarked to the Newton Institute and you are infringing on their trademark if you claim to be LBL practitioner when you are not a TNI member. It is a very expensive/exclusive program, and we have some practitioners on this forum who are TNI members. (not me) It is unfair to them to claim certification you do not have, and to the clients who read MN’s books and want ‘by the book” LBL session…If you chose this modality by mistake – maybe you should just remove it to avoid misrepresentation.

I have a suggestion – for people who took Karen E Wells class on Udemy University or practice “Between Death and Life” journeys in QHHT, or use any other “Afterlife exploration in hypnosis” modality – maybe we should have “Between Lives Regression” (all modalities) as a name of the listing in addition to “LBL trademarked”? Karen E Wells uses it as a name of her class, but I do not think it is trademarked. This way all of us who take clients into Afterlife can choose this modality without infringing on trademarks and copyrights? This way prospective clients will know that there are other modalities allowing access to Afterlife, not only LBL, and we do not have to lie and misrepresent ourselves?

And 2 more categories I want to suggest – Akashic Readings and Mediumship. Both are way beyond ‘psychic readings”, as most people associate “readings” with Tarot cards and fortune telling.

All good and valid points, Irina_Nolan. While Udemy is a nice way for people to gain some basic information and beginning training, it’s not the same as doing indepth and ongoing professional study. I do disagree with the statement about “psychic readings,” Tarot cards and fortune telling. There’s some skill involved in all. I know several who utilize Tarot and oracle decks as a part of their transformative life coaching practices as an adjunct in providing a different intuitive perspective for their clients. I know and am friends with some who utilize their amazing intuitive skills and consider themselves “Psychic” who are working professionally and providing incredible services. I do oracle card “readings” myself, and use them in a way that is both professional and insightful in conjunction with the coaching I do. To classify “readings” as merely “fortune telling” (which most associate with carnivals and other similar venues) seems a bit demeaning to me.

I of course support the idea of having different categories for readings: there are so many different types of readings, and very often folks are looking for a specific one. Agree with Jaci that most intuitive work involves skill and practice. Even those who simply use their natural clairvoyance or clairaudience without any tools still need to develop their skill and practice extensively to ensure accuracy. It’s not even worth comparing different types – all are valuable.
May be hard to pull this off logistically, and many directory members will need to be asked to go and update their categories after the change, but it would be awesome to implement this at some point. Thanks for that idea Irina!

    Hi irina,

    Good idea.
I did the lbl with Karen and found it confusing that it was called ‘ life between lives and beyond’ one time and ‘ between lives ‘ another.
I mentioned it on my listing as life between lives and beyond,as that is how Karen E Wells calls it. . I changed it now . I guess she was still looking for her course identity when she made that one. A totally different name may have been safer.Thank you for mentioning it.
We could create a new category Between Lives. I dont know how many of us took her course. Maybe its just you and me ,lol.

Jaci_Sivley, I did not say that I think that any psychic reading is fortune telling, but this is how many people see it IMHO.

Great suggestion Irina… you are correct that these categories are a little packed at the moment. As we work towards a unified platform we will be using suggestions like these to better set up our search menu and category options.

Right now we are stuck with a basic scroll menu but we hope to be moving to a cascade menu eventually which will allow us to add many more subdivisions without overwhelming the user.

Irina, Technically you are right. I use the abbreviation LBL but was not trained at TNI but was trained by Linda Backman who helped Michael Newman set up his training and helped him train. when he retired (with his permission) set up her own school teaching his technic. She calls it Between Life Soul Regression (BLSR). But because few know what the abbreviation BLSR means, on this site I use LBL for simplicity. I am however trained in Michael Newtons method of between life regression so if you are in the Asheville NC area in the next few weeks or Joshua Tree Ca after August, I would be glad to trade with you.

I feel that there are so many modalities that we aren’t even aware of and are even being developed in this moment. Why do we humans feel the need to label something that is really all the same? All are forms of energy medicine for healing. Let’s not assume we understand what others are doing in their practice and rather than compare and try to label, why dont we all just ‘NEW EARTH’ this and SHARE our skills and wisdom with eachother.
Because, no matter our modality labels, we are all tribemates working for the Highest Good.
My own labels limit me. Only those who I have served really understand my work.
So let us share freely. And move towards unity and understanding so that we can birth our 5D consciousness.

I also trained with Dr. Linda R. Backman in April 2011 in Boulder, Colorado. Yes, the course title was “Between Lives Soul Regression Therapy: An Intensive Training Program.”

Yes, I like some of the ideas for categories. If LBL was generic, I would have ticked it for what I do. I’ve have several people connect with what they did before a life and after life. One man had a long session where he saw the end – bleeding to death, all the way through to “Oh my god, I’m a baby in a crib!!!” He was completely blown away with that session and more than a week later he said he was still adjusting to what he experienced in it!
With CTT it’s VERY simple, just set the intent.

I love your response, Kim_Scheurer! I agree, and have similar feelings about the work I do myself. I suspect many of us in BQH can say the same. I do understand some wanting to delve into the “labeling” waters. That’s where a lot of clients who are just waking up come from……….and I know absolutely that part of my own purpose is to assist those clients and gently carry them along on the beginning of their journey. Most of them are still caught up in the “labels” thing, and don’t quite know how to make choices without putting people in the boxes they’re used to working with and from. So……….I see both sides. A big thank you for voicing my own thoughts more succinctly than I did. <3

John_Till, thank you for the offer, I might at some point get to Ashville, it is a cool hippy town, I used to paint faces at Mountain State Fair…

There are many post-LBL modalities, all inspired by Michael Newton’s work and taught by his students who broke off from TNI…It is a very similar situation to QHHT breaking into “official purists” and ‘innovators” (BQH). Since the ‘LBL rouges” are under constant legal harassment from TNI forbidding them to use LBL trademark, they have to use other names – Metalife, Interlife, Between Lives etc. Patricia_Grootjans is correct, Karen E Wells was teaching ‘Life Between Lives” class on Udemy, but in a couple of months after she launched it – she changed the name to ‘Between Lives Regression”. I am pretty sure she got an email from TNI lawyers…That’s the reason I think we should figure out where to put all the ‘Between Lives and Beyond” practitioners, to avoid misrepresentation and potential legal problems for individual practitioners and for the directory…and to let the clients know that there are other modalities, which can take you into Afterlife in hypnosis, not only trademarked and registered LBL modality.
