  • What is your favorite transcription software?

I’m looking for a new software to transcribe my sessions from audio to text and I’d love to know what software you’ve tried and loved.

I currently use an online application from Cockatoo and it works well but often leaves out words and entire sentences making it take longer to edit.

Is there a software you can recommend that works really well and catches all the words?

    Thanks!

Here is a referral link to Otter if you want to check it out. Otter has served Candace well…she’s been using it for several years now plus it keeps the audio recording long after Zoom does.

Thank you Tom!  I will definitely look into that one.  I remember now seeing her post about that one.

I only used Otter. Not very happy with it, but I do not know if there is anything better. They are about 100$ a year.

Hi Heather! Not thrilled with Otter either. We’ve been using Whisper (for MAC) and it is pretty darn good. Plus, it’s very reasonably priced. Not sure if they have an equivalent on PC.

Thanks, Allison!  They do have a Windows version so I will give that one a try.  Do you notice much missing information or is it fairly consistent with your audio?

@heather-hink it surprised me at how close it was. You’ll definitely need to go back over it, esp if you need to differentiate speakers, but it didn’t seem as labor intensive as Otter.
