Why I can’t unsubscribe?

Hi Irina,

Sorry you ran into trouble, and yes Terrell is right, it’s MUCH easier on us if any problems get reported to [email protected] so they go straight into our trouble ticketing system to manage. 

Anyway, to the issue at hand.  This forum has a slightly different (and better imo) email notification system.  There are a few new words to learn.  A Topic is an original post and Reply is a reply to that original post.  Everyone is set up with default new Topics in the common Categories.  So, for example, if someone shares a new topic about a session story, in Session Stories and Advice, then a lot of you are going to get that email notification because that default was already selected for you.

So how do you manage those notification settings?  When you are in the Support Forum tab, the top right corner will show your profile. There is a shortcut under your photo there are a series of buttons…one of them kind of looks like a wifi strength bar…a dot with two closed parentheses to the right.  This is your email notifications button (unfortunately call email subscriptions…we’re trying to change that word, because we think of subscriptions as something else). Regardless, this button opens up ALL your email notifications. Lauren’s video shows how to get to your email notifications thru your profile…they both end up at the same location.

You will then see to your left all the categories on the Forum. The ones to which you have access will have a click box for either ‘Topic’ or ‘Topic and Reply’.  Unless you’ve already played with it, most likely you will only see Topic selected, that’s so you don’t get barraged by email notifications of every reply to every post, sometimes that’s easily hundreds a day.  So click to your preference there.

Then the cool part (I think) is if you scroll all the way to the very bottom, below all the categories you’ll see a list of all the actual Topics (conversations) with which you’re subscribed…meaning you’re going to get a notice of every reply because you likely already engaged in that post.  So this can quickly add up…if you’re getting too many posts you can quickly scan this list of topics and if you want to bow out of getting notifications on that topic specifically, just click on the red bell with the line through it to the right of the Topic title. Click once, the bell will turn to a rotating circle and usually within a second or two that specific Topic will disappear from your list.

Don’t to forget to click update before leaving the page (I forget to do this ALL the time) as any buttons you check/uncheck won’t be saved unless you click ‘update.’  Any follow on problems or if something above like I described isn’t working for you Please, Please do not reply to this thread.
