You may have heard some say that “we are all one”. In this short article, we will explore why this is said and how this is possible. First, let’s begin with where we are now. Physicists have found that all matter in the universe is actually energy. Consider a few quotes from our beloved Albert Einstein “Concerning matter, we have all been wrong. What we have called matter is energy, whose vibration has been so lowered as to be perceptible to the senses. There is no matter.”Thus we, as matter, are also energy. Energy does not die or end. It only transforms. “Energy cannot be created or destroyed, it can only be changed from one form to another.” This means that we, or our energy, cannot die. Knowing this can be quite a comfort but it brings up many more questions as well. 

Since we, as well as all matter, are energy it follows that we come from energy. This energy is called by many names. We will call this root energy Source. All things come from Source. That means all things come from one Source. We, being energy can “change from one form to another”. Meaning that we can transform and merge. This is how we began. We once were all one energy of Source. We, as Source, decided to go forth and experience. In this decision, we were separated into many Source beings. This separation is called “the Big Bang”. Therefore, we are a part of Source and Source is a part of us, and we are apart of each other. We are one. 

Let’s go a bit deeper. We’ve established that we’ve all come from the same Source. Now let’s illustrate how we are all connected. We all have a cord of connection to Source. Whether we feel it or not, we are currently and have always been connected to Source energy. This cord can be called “The silver thread”, “the consciousness thread”, “the sutratma”, or “life thread”. With this connection to Source energy, we are also continually connected to each other through Source. This is a constant flow that exists in all things and through all things. We are all connected and we are all one. 

All “matter” or energy in the universe is from Source energy. Everything is made up of “matter”. This means that Source energy is in everything. Source energy is conscious. All things are a part of Source energy meaning all things have consciousness. That’s right, there is Source energy and consciousness in a rock, in a tree, in an animal, and in all elements. If everything is made of Source energy, and has a consciousness, and we are all constantly connected to Source, then everything is one. Everything is one and we are everything. 

Standing in this knowledge can change the way we look at ourselves and the world around us. It can change our relationships with others and our relationship to nature. With this knowledge we understand both our unity and our autonomy. We are all the same yet we are all Sovereign. Going about our days in this truth will not only change the way we think, it will actually change our reality.
